MEET THE ARTIST: MAREIKE BÖHMER

_MareikeBöhmer-groß.JPGHow do you stay creative? I have no influence on this. Most of the time I feel very creative because there are so many things which inspire me. But sure, there are these days where nothing happens, even if I want to create something. But that’s ok, I don’t force anything because it usually doesn’t work out if I do.

behind-the-design-quote-mareike-boehmer.jpgNature is one of my biggest inspirations. I love to walk outside with my camera. Nature is one of my biggest inspirations. For me, walking outside with my camera is very much my meditation. The minimalistic graphics, pastel colors, and geometric shapes of Scandinavian landscapes and design influence a lot of my work. I am also inspired by interior and art magazines, Instagram, and traveling to all kind of places and countries (but I do love the Scandinavian countries the most).

What is your favorite trend and how have you incorporated it into your designs? I’m not sure if this is a trend, but I do love Scandinavian design and interiors. Minimalistic graphics, pastel colors, and geometric shapes are my all time favorite for everything. Many of my artworks are influenced by this.

What is the story behind your favorite design in your DENY gallery? There is no special story behind this artwork. “My Favorite Pattern 3” is maybe the most simple design in my DENY gallery, but I love it very much. This simple pattern looks good on all the products, especially on home textiles and it really reflects my love for minimalistic geometric patterns and Scandinavian design.
