How do you stay creative? I never stop moving. I’m always thinking about the next shoot. I love to create mood boards before a shoot and I’m always on Pinterest or Instagram to see what the latest trend is and to feel inspired by other talented photographers.
What are you inspired by? I’m inspired by bringing out beauty in what’s already there. I love the idea of turning the mundane into escapism. A city street, a cute pineapple. Chasing light in the hope that I will get that one shot.
What is your favorite trend and how have you incorporated it into your designs? I’m loving the southwest vibes I’m seeing it everywhere; cactus, desert roads, and wild bison. My mom actually relocated to Salt Lake City this year and I decided to spend a few months with her for inspiration. There is so much to see!
What is the story behind your favorite design in your DENY gallery? It’s almost impossible to pick a favorite, so I’m going to go with a funny story. The Gold Pineapple was an idea I had that I really put some work into before I took it. I went out and got spray paint and a pineapple. I took it out back and painted it, it was getting kind of cold out so I went to bring it in the house. I missed a step going down the basement stairs and fell all the way down and bruised my entire side. I was so mad I chucked the pineapple leaving a metallic gold coat of paint on the ground that my boyfriend jokes it is still there. I had to get a new pineapple the next day but it was worth it.
