5 Ways to Decorate Your Dorm

Dorm Room Decor

With the school year fast approaching, college dorm decor is on everybody’s mind. Here at DENY we’re obviously obsessed with our new Room-In-A-Cube, which has all your dorm essentials in one package. Whether you want the package deal or are looking to go more a la carte with your dorm decorating, here are five decor essentials that no college kid can move in without.

1. Duvet Cover

These days, duvets are the way to go. In small dorm rooms the bed is really the main feature, so go ahead and dress it up! College is the time to nurture your personal style and come into your own, and your dorm room decor is a reflection of your personality. Whether you prefer minimal design or a great pop of color, let your duvet speak for you.

2. Throw Pillows

Not only do throw pillows add fun, texture, excitement, and jazz to your bed, they also provide major comfort. Listen, sometimes you get homesick in college, and as silly as it is, a couple extra throw pillows on your bed, especially if one of those pillows reminds you of your pup back home, will give you some loving when you need it.

3. Wall Tapestry

Warning, warning: dorm room walls are U-G-L-Y. They can’t be painted, they have been around the block a time or two, and are usually DINGY! So how do you decorate your dorm room walls? You slap a beautiful tapestry on them and call it a day. Talk about high impact art!

4. Gallery Wall Art

Consider using your other non-tapestry wall as the perfect place to grow a gallery wall. Start with a couple pieces of art that truly speak to you and throughout the year add on to wall. This could be a fun activity that you and your roommate do together. Consider including a mixture of art mediums and sizes, think: framed wall art, art prints, photography, meaningful momentos, and any other pieces that express your personality. You might have a piece that lasts a lifetime.

5. Dorm Storage

Dorm storage that is both functional and beautiful is hard to come by, so the DENY Cubes are a killer addition to any room. They can go below a raised bed, beneath a desk, in a closet, used as a side table, or stacked to make a bookshelf. They can house books, shoes, records, picture frames, and all other oddities that deserve a beautiful art clad home.

Decorating your dorm room doesn’t have to mean slapping up a few posters over your drab comforter. Stand out this school year by getting your rad, personalized decor from DENY Designs!
