Equipped with sharp focus, ambition, determination, resourcefulness and innate talent, in a very short time, she is beginning to see success as a professional artist. Jacqueline Maldonado The Red Sea Modern Clock

“Jacqueline works in a variety of media and explores many styles and modes of artistic expression; including but not limited to: watercolor, oil pastel, photography, digital imaging, graphic design, textile and surface design. Often, she combines several of these media, inventing unique and modern forms of art. She creates compositions derived from many sources and amalgamations of inspiration: imagination, emotion, nature, memory, and music. When asked to comment on her work, Jacqueline states, “I think about what can be communicated through line, form, tone, composition and the relationship of these elements to each other. I aim to create imaginative work; work that holds mystery, work that is poetic, and work that is luminous with color.”

Light In The Dark: Long Exposure Shots using LED Lights

Janne Parviainen is the creative genius, artist and photographer behind this series of shots where he “paints” a room with LED lights and captures the images using a long exposure setting on his camera.

According to Parviainen, no post-production editing was done on the photos and the results came directly from what was captured on the camera – pretty awesome right?

Paviainen said that it took him about 30 minutes to create each shot – by running back and forth through the room, tracing each of the objects with a colored LED light.

Too Cute: Valentina Ramos Inspired Nursery

We love our DENY Designs customers! They never cease to amaze us with a DIY, creative spirit – doing things with our products that we could have never imagined possible – making spaces bright, bold and beautiful.

These photos were sent to us by a customer who fell in love with the artwork by DENY artist, Valentina Ramos - particularly her design titled ‘Aaron’. Taking cues, inspiration and the color palette from the Aaron design, she used DENY Designs shower curtains and customized them herself to create window covers and then painted and accessorized the room to complete the look.

The result? One adorably chic nursery!

DENY Designs Artist of The Week: Madart, Inc.

Madart Inc Winter Sparkle Throw Pillow

Madart, Inc. has been with the DENY Designs family from the very beginning.  We were immediately drawn to her incredible use of color and the unique way her designs have the ability to lighten up any space. Her incredible portfolio is expanding Рalmost on a weekly basis, providing DENY Designs with a never-ending array of amazing artworks!

About Madart, Inc.:

I am a self taught contemporary artist, living out my dream of being able to create beautiful art as a profession As long as I can remember I have been drawn to art and have always had a pencil or brush in hand.

I draw my inspiration from nature and everyday subjects around me. Living in one of the most remote places on the planet, the Bush of Alaska, as well as tropical paradise, Hawaii and Florida, has allowed me to use many different aspects in my art to inspire me. It can be trees, boats, birds, vibrant sunsets, water, palm trees, cities, martinis; anything I see around me can be used to it’s fullest extent to draw the viewer into each piece and provide them with an enriching and pleasurable experience. I strive for my art to have an element of surprise, and at the same time, effect each person on a personal level with elements that they can relate to from their own life-experiences.

The closest style I feel my art fits into is a mix of Contemporary Eclecticism and Pop. And yet, it is different and unique in it’s own way, which is refreshing, and full of light and laughter. My goal as an artist is to bring happiness and joy into people’s lives through art. If every time someone looks at my art and it makes them smile, I know I have achieved part of my dream and purpose in life.

About Shannon Clark:

SSC Photography by Shannon Clark was born in early 2011 when I decided to dabble in to an interest that I have always admired through others pieces – photography. Already having a life long love of art and color, I decided to mix the 3 together and create the kind of art I love – happy, fun, bright and unexpected. I love color and the effect it has on one’s mood. I like taking ordinary, everyday things and sights and adding a fun, colorful twist on them with a variety of vintage to modern finishes and effects. There is beauty in everything all around, and it can be brought out in fun and unexpected ways! I truly love what I do and hope it shows in my work!

Duane Hosein The Immortal Doctor Throw Pillow

About Duane Hosein:

Duane Hosein is a New York based artist, illustrator and insomniac. The majority of his childhood was spent either hiding behind the pages of a book or drawing at the dining room table. As a result, he developed an aversion towards reality, combined with a desire to dwell in a world untainted by limitations. His work reflects a strong connection with nature and an almost unhealthy obsession to detail.

DENY Designs Artist of The Week: Lana Greben

The DENY Designs featured artist of the week is Lana Greban. New to the DENY Designs family just this past month, Lana takes glamourous to a whole new level. Her show-stopping, fashionable designs are ones that we think you’ll love as much as we do – and can add just the super chic touch to your home that you needed.

Lana Greben China Doll Fleece Throw Blanket

About Lana Greben:

Born in Ukraine, Lana Greben received a law degree from Dnipropetrovsk State University before moving to Québec, Canada. There, she received a degree in fine arts from the University of Quebec in Abitibi-Temiscamingue.

‚ÄúThrough their creations, fashion designers create styles, imply values, aesthetics and lifestyles. Fashion, for me, is all about the power of emotion, seduction and passion. My work explores the fascinating interrelation between art and fashion, one in which there is something of a role reversal. Fashion magazines, fashion photography and graphic design, in claiming and validating the visceral emotions and desires evoked by fashion, have themselves become powerful sources of inspiration‚ÄĚ Lana said.

Lana‚Äôs artistic philosophy can be summed up in one statement:¬†‚ÄúArt is my lifestyle and fashion is my world.‚ÄĚ

Matchstick Architecture: From Tiny Sticks, Buildings of His Dreams

Thanks to The Denver Post, we came across this incredible story of Paul Marti, matchstick mastermind:

Kathryn Scott Osler, The Denver Post

The first thing Paul Marti wants you to understand about his odd and wondrous matchstick creations ‚ÄĒ his delicate cathedrals, soaring castles, luxe mansions ‚ÄĒ is that they are art, not craft.

He didn’t hone his solitary skill by replicating actual buildings the way other matchstickers do. Those copycats. He designed them in his head, dreamed up their rounded towers and elaborate arches, painted their stained glass, placed their columns and capitals and tiny crosses just so. He solved their construction problems the way an artist would, by conjuring a vision of something beautiful first, then doing whatever it took to make it real.

He’s not a snob about it ‚ÄĒ in fact, he’s out of work right now. A commission¬†would be swell, he reminds you ‚ÄĒ but these objects are his life’s work, and he wants you togetthat they are originals.¬†“I would like to see them in a museum,” he says, “That’s where they belong.”

He has contacted several, he says, but it has been a tough sell. He’s not famous, he doesn’t have an agent. And how to even describe his work? Each is a combination of things. Architecture, sculpture, carpentry, masonry. They are fantastical, but real. They are engineered to stand strong, but they have the quaint charm of dollhouses, too.

This is the how he makes them: He bundles together six matchsticks to form a log, then with a scroll saw, he slices the logs into sections about an eighth of an inch thick to make bricks, then he lays the bricks into a wall, using single matchsticks as mortar. The walls come together into buildings, and details ‚ÄĒ cornices, steeples, domes, parquet floors, flying buttresses ‚ÄĒ are connected to complete the vision.

And this is how long it takes: 10,000 hours for his giant Swiss cathedral, about 3 feet long and 2 feet high. Maybe seven years of his life on one project. He has been making matchstick buildings since he was about 7 years old, and has¬†completed maybe a dozen, cutting, gluing, rounding corners with a belt sander, whenever he was not working. “This was my life,” he said. “This was all I did.”

What drives him to this kind of perfection? He answers that awkwardly, as if he doesn’t know himself, as if he’s not even sure that all this work was worth it.¬†But he believes he can do something no one can. People make matchstick buildings, but they don’t have his technique, his construction details. “I can create something exactly the way it was built 1,000 years ago. I can say I can do that.”

Incredible 360-Degree View Landscapes

Wow, talk about an entirely new way to view the world. Literally, a 360-view of some incredible landscapes.

New York City-based photographer and filmmaker Randy Scott Slavin has stitched hundreds of photographs together to form stunning spherical panoramic projections.
Titled ‚ÄėAlternate Perspectives‚Äô, his collection consists of surreal images of various cityscapes and landscapes.

‚ÄúI developed a technique¬†that could realize my desire to turn the real into the surreal,‚ÄĚ says Slavin. ¬†‚ÄúThe result is¬†something rebellious, beautiful, and provocative. My series is a collection of the works culled from these photographic explorations.‚ÄĚ

Pretty incredible. At least we think so. Check them out:
