Anderson Design Group | DENY Artist of the Week

Anderson Design Group has been part of the DENY Artist family for quite some time. But, do you really know who’s behind the magic?

Anderson Design Group | DENY Artist of the WeekJoel Anderson, founder of Anderson Design Group, graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design in 1986. His design firm has been creating branding for companies all over the world since 1993, but Joel’s real hobby/obsession is vintage poster art. Joel and his team of artists have admired and studied classic illustrated advertising prints for years. When they wanted to collect their favorites, they found that antique prints were just too expensive and the best public domain reproductions have been over-exploited. So, Joel had an idea, “What if we created our own classic poster designs featuring modern themes, but hand-rendered them in the tradition of the masters of the Golden Age of Poster Art?” So, they did just that. One of their first design collections, Art and Soul Of America, has won loads of design awards and quickly became a best-selling series of limited edition prints. Today, Joel and his team at Anderson Design Group, continue to create new lines of prints from the city of Nashville.

Pattern State DENY Artist of the Week

Meet Sarah English, the brains and beauty behind Pattern State.

With a background in painting, she works by day in the fashion industry and creates her custom patterns by night. Sarah lives in Texas where she draws from many inspirations and considers herself lucky to pursue her love of art, pattern and design.

Pattern State DENY Artist of the Week

“I’d like you to meet Ethel.  And if you look closely you’ll see a shotgun casually leaning there on her front porch. Ethel is not just a tough-as-nails, gun-wielding Texas farmer, she is also my great-grandmother. I am lucky enough to pursue my love of art, pattern, and good design because of the hard working women that came before me and used shotguns so I can use paint.” – Sarah

Oh stop it, Sarah, you’re too much. How amazing is she? We are literally obsessed with her pattern making. Like, really guys. Her use of bright and bold chartreuses, pinks and oranges should be outlawed it’s so good.

Artist-of-the-week-nicole-martinez

Meet Nicole Martinez.

“I grew up watching my architect grandfather draw plans with a pencil under his giant magnifier. His lines were sharp and concise. I don’t know when I decided to become an artist, but it must have been while watching his creations form on those flimsy sheets of paper.

I was born in Miami, educated in Gainesville, FL and have lived in Sao Paulo, Madrid, New York, Providence and now Boston. Every city, every step has been a place to learn and get inspired. I have so much fun designing, and I hope my art brings just as much joy to others so they can call it their own.” – Nicole

We have no doubt that her art brings joy! With her pun-ny one-liners and sweet illustrations, her designs are a perfect way to show your cutesy side without being too, well, cutesy. Isn’t she perfect for our Valentine’s Week Artist?

In her recent move across the country, Jacqueline took a leap of faith to pursue her art as a full-time endeavor. Equipped with sharp focus, ambition, determination, resourcefulness and innate talent, in a very short time, she is beginning to see success as a professional artist. She sells her works as prints and originals and also partners with several retailers and manufacturers who print her work on various products. She is proud to be partnering now with DENY Designs!”

Jacqueline Maldonado The Red Sea Modern Clock

“Jacqueline works in a variety of media and explores many styles and modes of artistic expression; including but not limited to: watercolor, oil pastel, photography, digital imaging, graphic design, textile and surface design. Often, she combines several of these media, inventing unique and modern forms of art. She creates compositions derived from many sources and amalgamations of inspiration: imagination, emotion, nature, memory, and music. When asked to comment on her work, Jacqueline states, “I think about what can be communicated through line, form, tone, composition and the relationship of these elements to each other. I aim to create imaginative work; work that holds mystery, work that is poetic, and work that is luminous with color.”

We love our DENY Designs customers! They never cease to amaze us with a DIY, creative spirit – doing things with our products that we could have never imagined possible – making spaces bright, bold and beautiful.

These photos were sent to us by a customer who fell in love with the artwork by DENY artist, Valentina Ramos - particularly her design titled ‘Aaron’. Taking cues, inspiration and the color palette from the Aaron design, she used DENY Designs shower curtains and customized them herself to create window covers and then painted and accessorized the room to complete the look.

The result? One adorably chic nursery!

The DENY Designs featured artist of the week this week is Madart, Inc.

Madart Inc Winter Sparkle Throw Pillow

Madart, Inc. has been with the DENY Designs family from the very beginning.  We were immediately drawn to her incredible use of color and the unique way her designs have the ability to lighten up any space. Her incredible portfolio is expanding – almost on a weekly basis, providing DENY Designs with a never-ending array of amazing artworks!

About Madart, Inc.:

I am a self taught contemporary artist, living out my dream of being able to create beautiful art as a profession As long as I can remember I have been drawn to art and have always had a pencil or brush in hand.

I draw my inspiration from nature and everyday subjects around me. Living in one of the most remote places on the planet, the Bush of Alaska, as well as tropical paradise, Hawaii and Florida, has allowed me to use many different aspects in my art to inspire me. It can be trees, boats, birds, vibrant sunsets, water, palm trees, cities, martinis; anything I see around me can be used to it’s fullest extent to draw the viewer into each piece and provide them with an enriching and pleasurable experience. I strive for my art to have an element of surprise, and at the same time, effect each person on a personal level with elements that they can relate to from their own life-experiences.

The closest style I feel my art fits into is a mix of Contemporary Eclecticism and Pop. And yet, it is different and unique in it’s own way, which is refreshing, and full of light and laughter. My goal as an artist is to bring happiness and joy into people’s lives through art. If every time someone looks at my art and it makes them smile, I know I have achieved part of my dream and purpose in life.
